AZ HEAT was the vision of Tim and Christa Grant back in 1994. With the expertise Tim had in the "sports" arena and much time investment, they launched AZ HEAT's first season in 1995.
The first season consisted of girls' volleyball and girls' and boys' basketball. Tim was a charter member of the Charter Athletic Association or CAA. (Originally referred to as CAC) This association organized charter and private Christian schools in the valley to compete in intra-mural events. Our teams have competed at the very top levels bringing home championship trophies on several occasions. A highlight for our organization has been finishing off our seasons with teams going to "Nationals". From the inception of AZ HEAT we have taken teams to the National Homeschool Basketball and Volleyball Tournaments held each year. Through these events we have brought many placement trophies home. We were especially proud when we brought back the Christian Character Award for our girls' basketball team. AZ HEAT has become "extended family" for many of us. We get together in the "sports" format but also for just plain fun and fellowship at many differing venues. Bowling, water-parks, birthdays, graduations, get-togethers for no specific reason than to just get together, the list goes on. To wrap up on a personal note; AZ HEAT has become our complete homeschooling support group. We have laughed and cried and helped and encouraged. My family's life has certainly been enriched because of AZ HEAT. Thank you, Tim and Christa, for being obedient to your God-given vision.
